During his more than 20-year mortgage banking career, Brian Israel  managed teams responsible for production, operations, risk management, product development, policy administration, technology and project management functions.

He is a past member of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation’s Affordable Housing and Regional Lender Advisory Boards and a past President of the Illinois Mortgage Bankers Association. He has represented the IMBA as Secretary of the IDFPR's Residential Mortgage Board, which counsels the State's principal mortgage banking regulator on administrative policy and enforcement matters.

Current Projects
Brian is developing the curriculum for a series of “life skills” classes that will be delivered to disadvantaged Chicago area teens.  Topics will include personal financial planning, employment, insurance, problem solving, fitness & nutrition, communication and presentations, conflict resolution, community service and environmental responsibility.

Legislative Advocacy
Brian was a member of an inter-association task force that worked with regulators and other interested parties to develop legislation aimed at combating abusive lending practices in Illinois by various means including the registration of individual loan originators.

These statutory changes were enacted in 2003 and took effect in January of 2004. After chairing the committee responsible for drafting the new originator registration exams, Brian developed and conducted pre-registration training sessions, independently and on behalf of the IMBA, for the thousands of mortgage professionals in Illinois and around the country who are subject to these requirements.
